Artisan Bio | Hershel House was born on July 4, 1941 and grew up in the little river town of Woodbury, Kentucky. Growing up, Hershel played, hunted and fished on the Green River. In 1956 he found an old longrifle in an old barn and has hunted and played with longrifles ever since. Hershel is a self-taught artisan and had the opportunity to study the many fine rifles of the Clem Coldwell collection. He began building longrifles full time in 1967.
