Artisan Bio | I have been shooting flintlocks for over thirty five years, and have built them off and on for twenty fives. Recently I have been building on a regular basis; concentrating on Southern Mountain rifles. I use only high quality barrels, locks, and wood in my work; making most of the other parts myself, including the but plates, trigger-guards, And compete double set triggers. I prefer to build my guns using wood, design, and execution that bring out the understated beauty that a plain iron mounted rifle can have. The stocks on my guns are scraped and burnished, and all iron gets a nice satin finish. Metal can be browned, cold rust blued, or left in the white, which was very common. I can also grey the iron, if desired, but it is not a traditional finish for a Southern arm. |
