Artisan Bio | Bill has a lifelong passion for the long rifle and traditional living history of the long hunter. Bill started out in business full time with his father, Dick Slusser, while completing high school in the late 70’s. After graduating he studied gunsmithing and machining at the Colorado School of Trades in the early 80's. Bill has been building guns ever since. Later, Bill started his own business as a full-time gunsmith and builder in the early 90's. In 2001, he was commissioned to build the Ned Smith Commemorative Long Rifle for the development of a new art center in Pennsylvania. Bill builds pistols, custom long rifles, and fowlers. Each gun is tailored to fit the customer for drop of comb and length of pull. He builds each lock from cast parts for precision and reliability. Bill is an avid craftsman and expert artisan in every sense. His heart and passion are poured into every gun design with precise detail. Bill is great at developing a theme for his guns based on his perceptive insight of each customer’s expressed desires and interests. His artistic ability is displayed in each piece of work. His guns are world known for the expert hand chiseled carving (both incised and relief) and hand chiseled engraving as well as jeweled wire and silver inlays that furnish his specialized guns. Bill has excelled with over 40 years of customer satisfaction and exceeded expectation. Each gun he creates is taken to heart and becomes a personal journey for Bill and his customer.
