Artisan Bio

Michael Markey was born in 1946 in Methuen, Massachuestts,
where he worked as a graphic designer. Although, not an area you think of for riflemakers, the area is steeped with history from the early days of this country. He became interested in flintlock firearms before the U.S. Bicentennial and his interest grew from there. He was a flintlock shooter and avid reenactor throughout the Bicentennial and was involved in many of the major historical reenactments.

A formally trained graphic designer, he did not start building rifles till nearing his retirement from the graphic design industry. The combination of the creative side and the historical side seemed to fill his need for artistic creativity, and combined well with his interest in historical firearms.

Now residing in Woodstock, Georgia, he builds early flintlock rifles specializing in reproductions of the work of Lancaster and surrounding county makers.
