Artisan Bio | I am a student of the "Longrifle Culture" with a primary interest in studying and recreating longrifles and associated accouterments including powder horns and knives. I am a long-time student of The Southern Ohio Artisan Workshops (SOAW). I attend several craft shows where I promote the many classes and talented Artisans that collaborate with the SOAW. My desire to share my love for the American Longrifle has led to me being an instructor teaching the Beginner Build From A Blank and the Kibler Rifle Building classes for the SOAW. I have also attended classes at Cabin Creek Muzzleloading Shop, and the Goshen Historical Society, School of Blacksmithing, and the NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar at Western Kentucky University. I have been privileged over the years to have the opportunity to study and improve my craft under my mentors and friends Hershel, John, and Frank House, Ian Pratt, Ken Gahagan, Jim Kibler, Brad and Shane Emig, Joe Seabolt, Rich McDonald, Billy Griner, and Tom Curran. I enjoy using the items I've made and collected to pursue deer, wild turkey, and squirrels and to compete in black powder shooting matches. I’m a Life Member of the NMLRA as well as a “1 of 1000” Endowment contributor. I’ve been a member of the CLA since 1999 and bought my first custom Allen Martin flintlock rifle from the Silent Auction table. I still have and hunt with that rifle to this day. I still support the CLA Silent Auction through purchases and donated items. I love supporting the CLA mission in any way that I can. |
